80’s indie-punk band Squirrel Bait and “Rose Island Road”. Video includes family tree of the early days of the Louisville indie scene with Squirrel Bait’s links to later, better known acts like Slint and Will Oldham (a/k/a Palace Brothers, a/k/a Bonnie “Prince” Billy). After Bob Mould spread the word, Spin magazine jumped on the bandwagon. They broke up in 1988, about the time they were finishing high school and heading to college and elsewhere.
ABC cut some of the best parts out of “A Charlie Brown Christmas” last night (including this great scene) so they could cram in a few more commercials. What a bunch of jerks.
Check out sketchy santas.
Going to see the Dave Rawlings Machine tomorrow night (Dave, Gillian, some of the boys from the Old Crow Medicine Show). Some whiskey will likely be consumed.
For the Brian Wilson fans…
I first posted this for Thanksgiving 2007. Yeesh, have I been doing this half-ass blog that long? Anyhoo, Happy Thanksgiving, yall.
Hound Dog Taylor playing an instrumental I don’t know at what appears to be Golden Gate Park. It reminds me of the solo that George Thorogood plays in the middle of his cover of Elmore James’ “Madison Blues”.

Roky Erickson & the Aliens - “I Walked With a Zombie”
Happy Halloween, yall.

This is a page from a high school textbook from the early 1960’s. While it’s obviously very offensive by today’s standards, it’s kinda funny if you think of the faces as lucha libre masks.
