As the dieters queued to see how many pounds they had shed, the floor beneath them in the clinic in Växjö, in south-central Sweden, began to rumble, according to a report in The Local, Sweden’s English-language newspaper.

“We suddenly heard a huge thud; we almost thought it was an earthquake and everything flew up in the air.”

You Ain’t No Picasso compiled 50+ covers by My Morning Jacket.  A panoply of artists are represented— ranging from the Misfits to Lionel Richie to the Velvet Underground to Poison.  My favorite so far is them teaming up with Wilco on Blue Oyster Cult’s “Don’t Fear the Reaper”— I was at that show!

80’s indie-punk band Squirrel Bait and “Rose Island Road”. Video includes family tree of the early days of the Louisville indie scene with Squirrel Bait’s links to later, better known acts like Slint and Will Oldham (a/k/a Palace Brothers, a/k/a Bonnie “Prince” Billy).  After Bob Mould spread the word, Spin magazine jumped on the bandwagon.  They broke up in 1988, about the time they were finishing high school and heading to college and elsewhere.
