The optimist in me really wants to believe that the SUV-driving gentry have taken it upon themselves to create spontaneous “chains of kindness” at Starbucks across the U.S. Unfortunately, to the cold cynic— i.e. the part of me that actually calls the shots— this smacks of a schmaltzy viral marketing campaign. But if you’re headed that way, I’ll take a big piece of that lemon poundcake. Mmmmmm, lemon poundcake.
