Long John Baldry’s “Don’t Try to Lay No Boogie Woogie on the King of Rock & Roll” from 1971. The song is prefaced by the spoken-word “Conditional Discharge” wherein Mr. Baldry recounts getting hauled into a London courtroom for playing “Boo-Gee Woo-Gee” music in the streets. The droll anecdote then lurches into a serious ass-kicking, bluesy rock number. Enjoy.
